Nichols Announces Manufacturing Partnership with RML

Nichols Cars has confirmed RML (Ray Mallock Limited) as its production partner for the build of the Nichols N1A – a Can-Am-inspired British supercar engineered to deliver a deliberately analogue, driver-first experience.

Now in the final stages of prototype testing, the 7.0-litre V8-powered, manual N1A is inspired by the 1960s Can-Am era and designed by legendary Formula 1 designer, Steve Nichols. Production of the sub 900kg, 730bhp N1A is anticipated to begin imminently, following the final phase of development, with the first customer cars scheduled for completion from mid-2026.

The experienced RML team will assemble the classically-inspired yet thoroughly modern supercar at its base in Northamptonshire with customer builds limited to no more than 100 units globally.

John Minett, CEO of Nichols Cars: “The N1A prototype has already received an exceptional response from media and our customers. We’re committed to work with the very best partners at every stage, from design and engineering through to manufacturing, so appointing RML to build the production cars is a natural extension of our approach.”

RML will support Nichols Cars through the transition from development to series production, bringing its proven low-volume manufacturing expertise to the N1A programme.

Paul Dickinson CEO of RML: “We’re proud to deepen our involvement in the N1A programme and to be entrusted with the production build. Nichols has set an uncompromising brief for a true driver’s car, and we’re looking forward to playing our part in delivering the N1A to customers.”

Conceived as an antidote to increasingly heavy, digitised supercars, the N1A combines contemporary materials, aerodynamic development and engineering discipline with a deliberately analogue, driver‑focused philosophy.
